Blog: 2/18/20 Article: The Arts Need To Be Part Of Schooling by: Mariale Hardiman Educator John Dewey claims that, "art is an authentic expression for all."
The visual and performing arts are subjects that take the back burner when funds are tight or when a student needs to take other courses to meet the requirements for graduation. Research completed by John Hopkins University of Education, suggests that incorporating arts into the curriculum can help improve academic performance in students. The completed research suggests art experiences with multiple domains of learning such as critical thinking skills, academic achievement and even motivate students to do better academically. Although some would not agree with this new conventional way of learning, I would agree with the studies completed and incorporate some visual and performing arts into the curriculum to increase academic achievement. Would you agree, why or why not? https://www.edweek.org/ew/articles/2017/10/04/the-arts-need-to-be-a-central.html
